Darcy is a sixteen year old Standardbred ex-race horse, who was being sold for horse meat at an auction. Many race horses are slaughtered when they are no longer winning races, and their meat is shipped to Europe for human consumption. Darcy is one of the lucky ones, who will spend the rest of his life grazing and running on the farm with his horse and mule friends. He enjoys being brushed and petted and loves it when visitors bring him carrots and apples. |
