Sixteenth Annual Open House and Fundraiser

Please bring a friend and join us to help raise much needed funds for the rescued animals! Enjoy an educational and entertaining afternoon with delicious food, a live band, silent auction, clowns and face painting for the kids, and an opportunity to visit with the Sanctuary's many rescued residents. No specific fee to attend, but donations will be accepted throughout the day of the event. RSVP requested.

John Schlimm, vegan cookbook author, will be our keynote speaker at the event.  John will be selling and signing copies of his books.

A member of one of the oldest brewing families in the U.S. and the son of a former butcher and meat-processing business owner, John came out on The Ellen DeGeneres Show as a pro-meatless, pro-vegetable loving kind of foodie, expressing the sentiment that no living being, human or animal, should ever go through this life unloved” to his millions of neighbors across the globe.

Come enjoy live music, great food from Thyme Square, a silent auction, Candy Cane the clown, and of course strolling around to meet the rescued animals. Our keynote speaker this year will be Karen Davis of United Poultry Concerns. Funds raised will be used to continue to rescue and provide permanent refuge for abused and abandoned farm animals and rehabilitated wildlife at the sanctuary. RSVP requested. Yard sale to benefit the animals -- donate your good quality items for the yard sale and receive a receipt for your taxes. No reservations necessary.

Annual Thanksgiving with the Turkeys

Come celebrate Thanksgiving WITH the turkeys -- as our guests. Join turkeys Alice, Ann Marie, Olivia, Gobbles, Eliot, and Gertrude and celebrate a cruelty-free Thanksgiving potluck. Please bring a vegan (no meat, dairy or eggs) dinner or dessert item to serve eight. $10.00 suggested donation per person to benefit the animals (children free).

Fifth Annual Open House and Fundraiser

Our biggest event of the year—and everyone's invited! This event helps raise money to continue the organization's important work of rescuing abused and abandoned farm animals.

Come out and bring a friend to hear speaker Colman McCarthy, former Washington Post columnist and founder and director of the Center for Teaching Peace.

There will also be a silent auction, the fabulous band Dave Kitchen and the Demolition, Candy Cane the clown, and delicious vegan food from Thyme's Square, Metro Dhaba, and the Wooden Shoe. And of course the opportunity to hang out with all the rescued animals. RSVP requested.

AR 2002 Conference

Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary will have an exhibit at AR 2002. If you will be attending the conference, please take a moment to stop by our table. During the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to visit the sanctuary and meet the animals.

Fourth Annual Fundraiser and Open House

You are invited to Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary’s fourth annual Fundraiser and Open House to raise money to continue the organization’s important work of rescuing and providing a permanent home for abused and abandoned farm animals. Please bring a friend and join us for an educational and entertaining afternoon.

Delicious vegan food will once again be provided by Thyme Square, with the very popular desserts (vegan cakes and cookies) by The Wooden Shoe. Beer, wine, and drinks will be available for a nominal donation. There will be a silent auction, Candy Cane the Clown, a live band, sale of t-shirts and other gift shop items, and an opportunity to stroll around the Sanctuary to meet all the rescued residents.

This year we are honored to have Gail Eisnitz, chief investigator for the Humane Farming Association, and author of Slaughterhouse, as our keynote speaker. Gail will sign books following her talk.
