The Poplar Spring Run (or Walk) for the Animals is on Sunday, May 19, 2019
The 5K run and 1 mile fun walk is a fundraiser dedicated to supporting the life-saving work Poplar Spring does everyday.
The annual Poplar Spring Run for the Animals (or walk) will be held at beautiful Wheaton Regional Park. The run raises vital funds needed to feed and care for the 200+ rescued animals at Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary.

The MC for the race is Lisa Berigan, radio host of BIG 100.3!!! Lisa has over 20 years experience hosting radio shows and is the proud companion to her beautiful dog Riley.
Prior to the race there is a pre-race warm-up by The Fit Fathers Foundation for all the runner’s and walkers!
Get there early to warm up and get pumped for the 5k or 1 mile walk.

Online registration will close at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 16th. You will still be able to register at packet pickup on Saturday, May 18th and on race day from 7:00 a.m. until the start of the race.
Monetary prizes are given to the top 3 overall male and female finishers. Awards are also given to the top team, and top male and female finishers in the following age categories: 13 and under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39,40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 and older.
We also give out prizes to our top two fundraisers!
Every race participant who preregisters for the race will receive a stylish Poplar Spring race t-shirt!
The winning animal and general teams are based on the top two finishing male and top two finishing female runners.
Packet Pick-up is held on Saturday, May 18 from 10:30 – 3:00 at RnJ Sports, 11910 Parklawn Drive Rockville, MD 20854. We will have some great goodie bag items, where you can choose the items you would like for your goodie bag.
Packet Pick-up is also held on race day, Sunday, May 19, at Wheaton Regional Park from 7:00 a.m. until the start of the race at 8:30 a.m.
Race participants go the extra mile by raising additional funds online for Poplar Spring.

Poplar Spring works hard to make the race as environmentally friendly as possible.
- All our food is vegan.
- We use biodegradable utensils, cups, and garbage bags.
- Each race participant will have a tree planted in his or her honor.
- We recycle as much as possible from the race.
- We collect used shoes at the race, which are donated to Interfaith Works, a Montgomery County nonprofit working to help county residents in need.
