Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary is a 400 acre non-profit refuge in Poolesville, Maryland for farm animals and wildlife that relies entirely on public donations for support. Our mission is to offer care, rehabilitation, and permanent sanctuary for neglected, abused or abandoned farm animals, as well as providing a protected habitat for wildlife. We promote compassion and the humane treatment of all animals by educating the public on farm animal and wildlife issues.

Saturday, July 25, 2015 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Come on out and meet the animals and enjoy hay rides and refreshments for sale. Shop for t-shirts, sweatshirts, and handmade crafts in our gift shop, and for hidden treasures at our giant yard sale in the carriage barn.

Thank You for Helping Us Build a New Pig Barn

In July 2014 we assisted with the rescue of 10 pigs who were being kept in a trash-filled pen at a trailer park in North Carolina with no shelter, food or water. As these babies will grow to be large 800 lb adults, we needed to secure funding to build an additional barn where they can be safe and warm in the winter. We reached out to our supporters for help, and we are profoundly moved and grateful that you all donated funds for us to build a beautiful, warm barn!
